Cipla Medpro has entered into an exclusive agreement with Serum Institute of India (SII) -- the world's largest vaccine manufacturer -- to supply vaccines to South Africa.
Medpro, which is Cipla's South African subsidiary, will be responsible for obtaining regulatory approvals and marketing of the vaccines under the deal terms. SII manufactures vaccines for various diseases including Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Tuberculosis, Hep B, Measles, Mumps and Rubella.
Medpro CEO Paul Miller is hopeful that the agreement will not only enable affordable and accessible vaccines for South Africans, but also help Medpro become a significant player in the South African market.
