GSK Names New Chairman

Sept. 25, 2014

According to Reuters' sources, GlaxoSmithKline will name Philip Hampton, who currently chairs Royal Bank of Scotland, as its next chairman.

Hampton is expected to join the GSK board as a non-executive director late this year or early in 2015 and take over from current chairman Christopher Gent mid-2015. Gent's plan to step down from chairman was announced two years ago.

Hampton will be tasked with addressing shareholder concerns over both the China bribery scandal and the company's recent poor financial performance.
