Boehringer to Eliminate 500-600 Jobs to Save $580M

According to a Reuters report, Boehringer Ingelheim said it plans to cut up to 600 jobs in Germany by the end of 2016, citing healthcare budget cuts in the United States and a stricter reimbursement regime in Germany.

The company said in a recent statement that the cutbacks were part of a drive to reduce costs in Germany by 15 percent or $580 million (450 million euros). BI employes about 14,000 people in Germany, and 47,500 worldwide. Read the full story
