Novartis to Cut 200 Jobs as Global Reorg Continues

May 24, 2017

Novartis Pharmaceuticals will lay off more than 200 New Jersey workers as the company continues its slow-moving global reorganization.

The upcoming layoffs were flagged in a WARN notice filed with the state, which said that Novartis would be restructuring the geographic footprint of its global development operations department, ceasing operations of two lines, data management and statistical programming.

This will result in the elimination of 204 positions at the company’s East Hanover, NJ headquarters by July 28.

A Novartis statement to NJBIZ noted that the drugmaker will be consolidating its data operations organization to a global development site in Hyderabad, India. The statement also mentioned that that 40 manufacturing positions would be added at the company's Morris Plains, NJ facility.
