Mylan to Close Meda Plant, Lay Off Workers

March 26, 2017

Mylan will close its Meda Pharmaceuticals manufacturing facility in Decatur, Illinois, resulting in the loss of 90 jobs.

The plant closure will be phased in over the rest of this year and will finish in 2018.

“The decision to close the (Decatur) site comes after a careful assessment of bringing the two businesses (Meda and Mylan) together as part of our integration process and is consistent with our ongoing efforts to operate our businesses as efficiently as possible,” said a Mylan spokeswoman.

Mylan acquired Meda in 2016 for $7.2 billion. In December, Mylan closed Meda's U.S. headquarters in Somerset, NJ, in December, resulting in 94 layoffs.
