Fluor Provides Management Services for Baxter Biotech Facility

Feb. 8, 2013

Fluor Corp. is providing early construction management services for Baxter International's new biotechnology facility near Covington, Ga. (southeast of Atlanta).

"Fluor is proud that our project and construction management services will help Baxter make this facility a reality to create therapies to treat a number of chronic and acute conditions, including immune deficiencies and critical care patients around the world,” said Steve Dobbs, president of Fluor's Industrial & Infrastructure Business Group.

Mass excavation is underway at the project site, but commercial production at the new facility isn't scheduled to begin until 2018. The Covington site will have the necessary infrastructure to expand further to support additional global market needs. According to the company, Fluor's Greenville, S.C., office will provide support to the onsite construction management team; the construction labor workforce is expected to total about 2,200 at construction peak.
