PAT seminar planned for June in Puerto Rico

puerto ricoThe University of Mayaguez (Puerto Rico) will be home to a new "PAT innovation center" that will focus on demonstrating how process analytical technologies (PAT) can be most effectively used in drug development and manufacturing. The University of Puerto Rico is actively involved in both the Purdue University (NIPTE) and the Rutgers-led (Engineering Research Center) interdisciplinary pharmaceutical engineering initiatives now under way. (And, by the way, the Rutgers ERC just received $15 million in funding from the National Science Foundation last week. ) The new innovation center would serve as an incubator for PAT, automation and control for industry, academics and vendors. So far, ABB is one vendor whose technology is being evaluated for use at the new center. A PAT seminar will be held on the island in mid-June, focusing on the use of sensors in biopharma processing. Stay tuned for more on that shortly. INDUNIV and IFPAC will also cosponsor a PAT conference in September (click on link to receive a PDF) -AMS
