May 9, 2006
Along with a telecom, an IT and an automotive company, the drug manufacturer, Novartis, has joined MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing program.  As part of the program, the company will work with MIT faculty, students and fellow LfM members to develop the research and courses needed to address manufacturing challenges.   Novartis' Suffern facility (whose manufacturing team was a 2005 "Team of the Year")  has had a relationship with MIT for the past few years, and grad students have been invited to work and observe operations at its Suffern plant. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing has been covering Novartis' U.S. operations and the progress they've been making in implementing  Lean and Operational Excellence, as well as process analytical technology (PAT).  -AMS
