AdvantaPure Braid-Reinforced Silicone Hose
A silicone hose that is reinforced for enhanced pressure capabilities is available from AdvantaPure, the high purity products division of NewAge Industries. Called APSH, its applications include those in the pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage, and other critical process industries.
“Silicone tubing that’s not reinforced has limited pressure capabilities” states David Schwass, AdvantaPure’s Director of Sales. “APSH is braid reinforced and addresses applications involving greater flow volume needs – those where the fluid path must handle a higher pressure rating than unreinforced tubing is able to. The braiding also gives the user a much higher safety factor if there’s concern that the pressure-handling ability of unreinforced tubing may be marginal for the intended application.”
An example is large batch or process fluid transfer. Connections between large containers full of liquid product that need to be transferred quickly call for a larger diameter tubing with a high volume flow rate. This process requires a braided silicone hose due to the pressure involved. When APSH is employed between the vessels, the risk of tubing failure, leaks and spillage is greatly reduced.
Another application example involves better bend radii. Braid reinforced hose like APSH won’t collapse or kink like unreinforced tubing can when it bends around or hangs from equipment. Silicone tubing can be relatively heavy, depending on size, and reinforced styles offer more support at curves and bends, reducing the possibility of kinking and flow interruption.
APSH hose is suitable for air transfer as well as fluid and works within a wide range of temperatures:  100°F ( 73°C) to 400°F (204°C). It resists compression set, chemical attack, ozone, radiation, moisture and environmental exposure. APSH is documented lot traceable with identification on bags and boxes and offers documented quality control as well. The hose may be sterilized by autoclave, SIP, CIP, or gamma irradiation.
APSH is clean room manufactured in the U.S. at NewAge’s solar-powered facility. The hose’s polyester braid reinforcement is encapsulated within walls of low-volatile-grade, platinum-cured silicone elastomer, and its core material is NSF-51 listed for use with food equipment. APSH has undergone extensive physical, chemical and biological testing and meets USP Class VI, FDA CFR 177.2600, ISO 10993, European Pharmacopoeia 3.1.9 and 3-A standards. The hose is certified free of animal-derived ingredients.
Sizes ranging from .063” through 1” nominal I.D. are stocked. Options such as special coil lengths and sizes, cleaning, packaging, and color tracer braid for identification purposes are available on a custom basis. A double-braid style (for additional durability) is also stocked.
