Peristaltic Automated Cell Culture Pump Ideal for Metering

Watson-Marlow Bredel, manufacturer of peristaltic pumps, announces the 313D Automated Cell Culture pump. The 313D is ideal for the metering, transfer and dosing of process fluids and PBS rinse solution, aiding in the production of high-quality, consistent cells for research in the life sciences.

To maintain the purity of the pumped product, the pumphead has no valves, is self-priming, and can run dry without incurring damage. Unlike other pump types, pumped fluids remain completely contained within the tubing at all times. There is also no contamination of cell cultures and solutions, which eliminates the need for experiment repetition. Designed to operate 24 hours per day, the 313D ensures overnight cell cultures are completed without the need for supervision.

The pumps can be cleaned in-line at full velocity without the intrusive bypass of most other positive displacement pumps. Dismantling and further cleaning are not required. The 313D accepts five different tube sizes for a flow range of 0.25 to 1,350 ml per minute, and pressures up to 30 psi. The easy tube loading feature enables the 313D to provide foolproof loading with minimal downtime.

The process of loading the pumphead is comprised of just three simple steps:

  1. sliding open the track to expose the rotor;
  2. placing the tubing over the rotor; and
  3. sliding the track down.

The 313D pumphead features secure clamps that allow more clearance during loading and prevent tampering. The tubing is “clamped and stretched” as the track clicks shut. Clamping ensures that the tubing is properly and consistently loaded. The 313D also offers an automatic stop switch that shuts the unit down should the head be opened while in operation.

The 313D’s OEM-style panel-mount gear motors and speed controls are available in AC, DC, or stepper versions. The 313D pumphead also comes with a choice of three or four rollers and fixed or variable tube clamps, is available in both private label and element versions, and comes in custom colors to match existing equipment.

For multiple flow channels, Watson-Marlow Bredel’s 313D pumpheads can be stacked to provide up to six channels on the same drive. Tubing is offered in three USP Class VI materials: platinum cured silicone, Sta-Pure or long-life Bioprene.

Every Watson-Marlow Bredel peristaltic pump is an inherent metering pump with repeatability of up to 99.5%. Many models include integral digital drives and displays in washdown enclosures. These self-priming pumps accommodate flow rates from 0.1 microliter to 350 gpm, and are durable, some withstanding pressures up to 232 psi.There are no internal universal joints, valves, dead corners, or glands to impede flow, and these pumps are reversible for back flushing lines.They can also run dry indefinitely without damage and provide up to a 30-foot suction lift.
