Mettler-Toledo Thornton has introduced certified sanitary conductivity sensors that meet USP <88> Class VI requirements for polymeric wetted materials. This includes both 2-electrode and 4-electrode sensors suitable for pharmaceutical water, clean-in-place, and other pharmaceutical water monitoring requirements.

The statement citing USP <88> In Vivo Biological Reactivity Tests, Class VI compliance confirms that the polymeric materials used in these sensors have been tested and proven not to leach any traces of harmful materials. It is one of the most stringent material requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia and is required in many pharmaceutical installations. Wetted polymeric materials include PEEK and Viton in various sensor models.
