| Bruker's Matrix-F process FT-NIR spectrometer |
The process FT-NIR spectrometer Matrix-F spectrometer (photo at right) or its laboratory version, MPA, can be coupled to the Dr. Schleuniger Pharmatron Autotest 4 tablet tester for diffuse reflectance FT-NIR measurements. The Autotest 4 provides tablet weight, thickness, diameter, and hardness measurements and the FT-NIR provides rapid, non-destructive potency and content uniformity determination. The StepOne system is capable of testing a wide variety of tablet shapes. Samples can be loaded directly from a press or manually placed in the sample feeder.
Traditional content uniformity analysis has been performed by HPLC, which is a destructive, slow and generally laboratory-based technique. Near Infared spectroscopy has proven to be a cost- and time-efficient alternative, providing valuable analysis through the pharmaceutical manufacturing process.
