GSK Closes North Carolina Site Due to Legionella Bacteria

GlaxoSmithKline's manufacturing plant in Zebulon, N.C., has been temporarily shut down after bacteria was found in its cooling towers.

According to an article in the Triangle Business Journal, spokesperson Jenni Brewer Ligday confirmed that the site was shut down Tuesday after “routine testing found bacteria in the cooling towers.” Ligday confirmed that Legionella was detected. The staff was vacated, and those on the second and third shifts will wait for further information from the company.
