EU Bans Imports of Ranbaxy Injectables

Dec. 4, 2014

The European Union has banned imports from the Ranbaxy Laboratories' Dewas plant, which manufactures injectable antibotics, after the unit failed an inspection.

In June, european authorities inspected all units at Ranbaxy's plant in Madhya Pradesh but did not approve the manufacturing practices at the unit that makes injectable cephalosporin antibiotics. All other units of the facility were approved.

Ranbaxy stated in today's stock market filing that the drugmaker has decided to discontinue manufacture of cephalosporin injectables entirely.
