Sartorius Stedim Biotech’s Puerto Rico Facility Earns LEED Platinum Status

Sartorius Stedim Biotech has received the highest certification for ecological and sustainable building by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its new facility in Yauco, Puerto Rico. Sartorius is said to be the only company worldwide to have a LEED Platinum-certified manufacturing facility for the biopharmaceutical industry. LEED gives building owners and operators a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
Sartorius invested $20 million in the new production building, which was officially opened in the summer of 2012, after approximately one year of construction. Read more
