Growth in Pharma Leads to Promotions at DSM

DSM Pharmaceutical Products, a leading provider of custom contract manufacturing services, on Sept. 21 announced a number of key management appointments. DSM Pharmaceutical Products is a Parsippany, N.J.-based unit of the Dutch firm DSM.
Leendert Staal, currently business group director for DSM Pharmaceutical Products, will assume the role of president of DSM Nutritional Products, reporting to Stephan Tanda, member of DSM's Managing Board.
Bob Hartmayer will succeed Staal as business group director, president & CEO of DSM Pharmaceutical Products, reporting to Jan Zuidam, member of DSM's Managing Board. Hartmayer currently holds the position of business group director for DSM Elastomers.
As the pharmaceutical business group is moving into a significant period of growth, involving both autonomous and non-autonomous opportunities, the following management appointments will take effect on October 1:
Luca Mantovani, currently vice president of citric acid, for DSM Nutritional Products, will become business unit director and president, DSM Pharma Chemicals. He will report to Hartmayer.
Terry Novak, currently chief marketing officer of DSM Pharmaceuticals & Biologics, will take the post of business unit director and president of DSM Pharmaceuticals Inc. He also will report to Hartmayer.
Karen King, currently senior vice president of Strategic Business Development, will assume the role of business unit director and presideny, DSM Biologics, reporting to Hartmayer.
Hans Engels, currently chief operating officer for DSM Pharmaceuticals & Biologics, will become chief operating officer, DSM Pharmaceutical Products Business Group, reporting to Hartmayer.
Stephen Lijoi, currently vice president of Operations at DSM Pharmaceutical Products' Greenville, N.C. contract manufacturing facility, will assume the responsibilities of vice president and site director for Greenville. He will report to Novak.
