Pfizer To Transfer German Headquarters

Pharmaceutical group Pfizer Inc will move its German unit's headquarters to Berlin from Karlsruhe to be in the vicinity of the federal capital's growing health-related industry.

At least 500 of the current 645 positions in Germany will be affected by the plans, the unit said in a statement.

It added that beyond the healthcare business, its veterinary business will also be relocated to Berlin from Karlsruhe.

German operations head Andreas Penk said the company has to face up to the 'reality' that important partners related to the business are based in the federal capital.
