Paxonix and Global Vision Partner to Deliver Drug Packaging Solution
10/05/2006
Paxonix, a supplier of packaging management software, and Global Vision, which provides automated proofreading software, have formed a partnership to offer pharma companies a single platform solution for drug package management.
Packaging blunders remain a problem within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently reported that over a six-month period half of all drug recalls were due to mislabelling, while an additional 13 per cent were due to faulty packaging.
In response, the two firms have combined their flagship software to offer packaging departments a single platform that they claim will help pharma companies tackle this problem.
Paxonix's software, called PaxPro, offers intelligent forms linked to a business rules engine and project management and Global Vision's Docu-Proof is a document comparator that ensures a high accuracy of packaging components
In addition, the two companies said their new solution would allow pharma firms improve efficiency and reduce supply chain time by testing more packaging structures in less time.
“The market today affords no room for error, particularly at a time when being a day late to market can result in the loss of thousands, maybe millions of dollars," said Kent Vrain, VP of marketing and business development for Paxonix.
"Therefore, brand and packaging managers need to get it right the first time – to improve speed to market on new products and minimize rework on new or revamped packages."
Under the terms of the agreement, Paxonix, a specialised division of MeadWestvaco, the $6bn (€4.7bn) leader in the packaging industry, will also act as a preferred reseller for Global Vision's software suite
