MicroTest announces million dollar investment for enhancing Pharmaceutical services and fill/finish contract manufacturing

A $7.5 million capital improvement program underway at MicroTest Labs of Agawam, Mass. (http://www.microtestlabs.com) is enhancing the firm’s offering of Pharmaceutical services, medical and analytical services and fill/finish contract manufacturing capabilities.

“The investment enables MicroTest to assist device manufacturers to more quickly and cost-effectively deliver safe and quality products to the marketplace,” said Dr. Steve Richter, Ph.D, MicroTest President and Scientific Director.

Microtest will spotlight its expansion of services as part of its exhibit in booth number 2145 at MD&M East 2006. Throughout MD&M East 2006, MicroTest will offer free qualification of its laboratory services to prospective customers of its microbiology testing services.

Richter said the expansion includes constructing and equipping new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical testing laboratory facilities, a series of segregated microbiology testing laboratories, and new aseptic fill/finish manufacturing facilities -- along with the hiring of additional professional staff.

In response to customers, Microtest enhances services to support Gamma/EO Sterilization process, drug release testing services and aseptic filtration of pharmaceutical products.  MicroTest’s upgraded contract manufacturing and analytical services, performed as needed in accordance with USP/ISO/BP/AOAC/AAMI/JP requirements. 

Dr. Richter pointed that Pharmaceutical manufacturers are facing a rising volume and complexity of challenges in product development and validation, including time, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements and also a rapid convergence of device and chemistry testing.  He then added that with the experience of the Company’s new, cutting-edge resources, they are ready to assist with any possible product development and validation challenge.
