Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMS) announced Mar. 8 that it will build its new biologics facility in the United States. At its regularly scheduled meeting on March 7, BMS's Board of Directors approved a capital expenditure in the amount of $660 million for the construction of a large-scale, multi-product bulk biologics manufacturing facility. The facility will be modular in design in order to accommodate future expansion.
According to the Associated Press (as reported on MSN Money), "The final site hasn't been selected but a decision about where to build the facility which will be designed to produce several types of biotech products will be made by the end of the second quarter, the company said. Construction is slated to begin by the end of third quarter and it will take five years to complete the building and regulatory requirements for production."
