PAL Laboratories, Inc., Doral, Fla., recently opened a $20 million, 47,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, cGMP-validated, manufacturing facility. PAL Laboratories will manufacture and package nutritional supplements and over-the-counter products utilizing the latest technology and equipment.
“The facility is being constructed to stringent Food and Drug Administration specifications and meets all Good Manufacturing Practices standards,” said Roger Lopez, President of PAL Laboratories. “By the time this facility is done, it will be the second largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Miami-Dade County and arguably, one of the premier manufacturing sites in the world.”
The plant was designed to initially produce nutritional supplements and over-the-counter medications. In the near future, the facility will produce generic tablets and capsules for large pharmaceutical companies and chain stores that will want to offer their own labels. Within the next 24 months, PAL anticipates the facility will produce between 1.5 - 2 billion dosages per year, generate close to $75 million in revenue and have a staff of nearly 100. When running at full capacity, the facility will have the potential to make five billion dosages per year with annual revenues of $250 million.
“We look forward to having the opportunity to work with major pharmaceutical companies and providing them our services,” said Lopez. “We are working with companies such as Ivax, Humana, CVS Pharmacy, Banner Pharmacaps and Swiss Caps and are in negotiations with Pfizer and Proctor & Gamble. We are pursuing chains such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Walgreen’s and other major retailers.”
In addition to private label and generic drugs, PAL also manufactures its own line of vitamins and nutraceuticals. Earlier this year, PAL Laboratories began working with Florida International University to supply its athletic teams with E-lite chewable tablets, an electrolyte replenishment formula that assists athletes in the recovery of critical minerals and nutrients lost during heavy exercise. This product was developed by PAL and has a U.S. patent pending.
