Kontnik Heads Up Amgen’s Anticounterfeiting Effort

Noted consultant Lew Kontnik has joined Amgen to become the company’s director of brand protection and business continuity. Kontnik has long been a leader in the fight against drug counterfeiting and a recognized authority on anticounterfeiting strategies and solutions. He served as the pharmaceutical facilitator for the recently completed FDA Product Surety Project, which helped bring FDA and the pharmaceutical industry together to combat the problem of fake drugs entering the U.S.

A lawyer by training, Kontnik co-authored the groundbreaking Counterfeiting Exposed, published by Wiley last year, as well as Protecting Medicines: A Manual of Anticounterfeiting Solutions.
Kontnik's other credits include the founding of Reconnaissance International, a global intelligence publishing and consulting firm, and serving as president of the Colorado BioMedical Ventures Center.
